Native Douglas Fir floorboards from the Black Forest

Since Douglas fir came to us from North America to the Black Forest over 120 years ago, the very beautiful Douglas fir wood has been finding more and more fans. The Black Forest is one of the richest Douglas fir regions in Europe. Here stands “Waltraut”, which, at 66 meters tall, is the highest Douglas fir in Germany.

Construction of our Douglas fir floorboards

We offer the Douglas boards in two different constructions. The single-layer (solid) variant and the 3-layer engineered variant, which is for example preferred for underfloor heating.

The main advantages of the 3-layer engineered Douglas fir board: lower installation height, better heat conduction on the floor heating and fewer joints

Surface treatment

As tastes are known to be different, we offer the Douglas fir boards in two different structures. We call structures the tactile surface (feel) of the boards. We have the polished, fine "feel" (we call this structure Korn) and we manufacture the brushed, more tangible feel (we call this structure Dom)

Douglasie Dielenboden geschliffen

Korn - sanded

The subtlest of our surfaces. Sanded flat and smooth. Naturally occurring knots and cracks are filled. A quiet and subtle surface. The side edges are slightly bevelled. Here it is the colour that should dominate. Yet still a warm wooden floor feeling and nature pure.

Dom - brushed

A beautifully finished surface structure. The soft wood is worked out through various mechanical processes such as sanding, brushing, planing. The hardwood grain is slightly raised thus emphasizing the naturalness of real wooden boards. We offer Dom floors in “cheeky” and “polite” variations. That is to say with stronger or subtler structure. The naturally occurring knots and cracks are filled. The matching colour palette can be found in our colour boutique.

Douglas fir Finish / Final treatment

This last step means coloring, or surface protection. With us you can choose whether you lay your boards untreated, i.e. raw and protect / oil / wax / varnish / etc. yourself or whether you want your Douglas fir floorboards to be treated completely. In addition to the untreated surface, we also offer the following colours.
